Dr. Ed Brotak retired from the University of North Carolina at Asheville after over 30 years of teaching meteorology.  He is now a freelance writer with over 50 magazine/journal articles published to date. These include pieces on science, nature, travel, and gardening.

Ed and his wife, Liz, live in Asheville and have two daughters, Chandler who is a student at the University of South Carolina and Brayton who attends public school in Asheville.  Both are outstanding students and gifted musicians.
